Heart to Heart was created from a simple observation that one of the most meaningful moments in childbirth, the one when you finally get to meet your baby face to face and are excited to have your baby skin to skin, is simply not possible. After months of preparation and reading about incredible benefits of immediate skin to skin bonding, I was stunned when my baby was delivered onto my hospital gown and not me. Not how I envisioned. Not how I intended. I realized that moment was lost forever and I would never get a chance to recreate it. That's when I knew that all mothers deserve to have this basic need met. The standard hospital gown was never designed for this initial connection. Nor was it designed for privacy around childbirth and breastfeeding. As a surgeon I understood very well the role of that garment was to provide access to IVs, epidurals, monitors and other life saving functions that a patient in the hospital could not go without.

Heart to Heart was created to fill that void and bridge the gap between mother's needs and medical necessity.
