Standard hospital gowns force a choice between coverage and access — you either stay covered or you're exposed for skin-to-skin, exams, and feeding. The Heart to Heart Gown solves that with a patent-pending two-flap system: an upper flap that opens for immediate chest-to-chest bonding and nursing, and a lower flap for postpartum checks. You stay covered, dignified, and in control while your care team still gets everything they need.
The gown uses patent pending two independent snap-closure flaps. The top flap opens at the chest for skin-to-skin contact and breastfeeding without removing the gown. The bottom flap allows clinicians to apply monitoring and perform postpartum and delivery checks without uncovering the rest of your body. The snaps are plastic rather than metal, so they won't interfere with monitoring equipment or imaging.
Yes. It was designed by a surgeon specifically to stay on through labor, epidural placement, fetal monitoring, delivery, and recovery — so you're not changing in and out of gowns during the most important hours.
The gown was engineered around hospital workflow so it supports rather than fights clinical access. Many parents bring it and change into it on arrival or after admission. We recommend mentioning it to your provider or birth plan ahead of time; most welcome anything that keeps the patient comfortable while preserving full access.
The hospital provides a gown, so this is a fair question. The difference shows up in the moments that matter most. A standard gown has to be pulled down, opened, or removed entirely every time there's skin-to-skin, a feeding, an exam, or a postpartum check — which means repeated exposure and readjusting during hours when you're already vulnerable and exhausted. The Heart to Heart Gown is built so all of that happens through two purpose-designed flaps, without ever leaving you uncovered. It's the difference between getting through labor and feeling cared for through it.
It's designed for any expecting parent who wants their birth experience to feel connected and dignified rather than clinical. It's especially loved by:
It's made from 100% organic cotton soft, breathable, and gentle against your skin and your baby's during skin-to-skin. It's hypoallergenic and ultra-light, designed to feel like something you'd actually want to wear for the hours you'll spend in it, not institutional.
The gown was built for this. After a cesarean or any surgery, getting up and repositioning is hard, and repeated gown adjustments for incision checks and feeding are exhausting. The two-flap system lets clinicians check your incision through the lower flap and lets you keep your baby skin-to-skin through the upper flap without you having to move or be re-exposed each time
Heart to Heart was created by Dr. Quimby, a practicing surgeon and mother of two. She designed the gown after experiencing the skin-to-skin gap firsthand as a patient, then applied a surgeon's understanding of clinical access and workflow to solve it. That dual perspective — what the care team needs and what the mother feels — is built into every detail of the gown.
